A home is more than just a structure. It reflects the people who live there and how they want to feel every day. When our clients moved into their coastal home in Narraweena, they knew the bathroom no longer suited their lifestyle or the relaxed Northern Beaches setting.
Their goal was clear: transform the existing bathroom into a calm, light-filled retreat that feels timeless, practical, and quietly luxurious. At Tilemall, we believe bathrooms should be more than functional spaces. They should feel restorative, personal, and easy to live with. This Narraweena bathroom renovation is a perfect example of how thoughtful material choices can completely reshape a space without overcomplicating the design.
Material Selection: Creating a Calm Foundation
The success of any renovation lies in the materials. For this project, we focused on products that look beautiful but are also practical for daily life.
1. The Flooring: Easi-Plank SPC Hybrid Flooring (Oak Natural)

Before entering the bathroom itself, we addressed the transition from the hallway. To create a seamless flow, we chose the Easi-Plank SPC Hybrid Flooring in Oak Natural.
Why this choice?
Hybrid flooring is a perfect fit for modern Australian homes. The Stone Polymer Composite (SPC) core provides exceptional stability, meaning it won’t swell or contract with Narraweena’s coastal humidity. We chose the Oak Natural finish because it brings an organic, earthy warmth that softens the harder surfaces of the tiles and gold hardware. Its water-resistant nature makes it the perfect bridge between the living spaces and the wet areas.
2. The Walls: Marble Snow White (1200x600)

For the walls, we wanted a look that felt clean and bright, but with a bit more character than a plain white tile. We settled on the Marble Snow White series in a 1200x600 size.
These porcelain tiles do a great job of looking like real marble, with soft white tones and subtle grey patterns running through them. Because the tiles are quite large, there are fewer grout lines to look at. This helps the walls feel more continuous and makes the whole bathroom feel much more open and airy. Plus, being porcelain, they are very easy to wipe down and keep looking new.
By using large-format tiles, we minimised grout lines, which not only makes the bathroom easier to clean but also creates a "continuous slab" effect that makes the walls feel taller and the room more expansive.
3. The Floor: Pietra Trana Surface Tec Beige (600x600)

To ground the room, we decided to move away from using too much stark white. Instead, we chose the Pietra Trana in Beige. These tiles give you the look of natural marble but are much easier to look after.
One of the main reasons we picked this range is the Surface Tec finish. It provides a slip-resistant surface that is perfect for wet bathroom floors, yet it still feels surprisingly smooth underfoot. The warm beige tones offer a sophisticated contrast to the white walls and do a lovely job of picking up the golden hues from the taps and accessories.
The Finishing Touches: Gold Accents & Smart Fixtures
If the tiles are the foundation of the room, the taps and accessories are what really bring the look together. To give the bathroom a classic but high-end feel, the clients chose a Brushed Gold theme from the Nero range. Gold is a lovely choice because it adds a bit of warmth to the space, making the room feel a little more "luxe" than standard chrome would.
Keeping it Consistent with the Nero Collection
We used the same gold finish for everything to make sure the room felt unified and calm:
- Nero Universal Pop Up Waste: A tiny detail, but having the drain match the taps makes a big difference.
- Nero Mecca Wall Basin Mixer: We mounted this on the wall rather than the vanity. It looks much cleaner and gives you more room around the sink.
- Nero Round Project Twin Shower: This is a great practical choice. You get the relaxing feel of a large rainfall shower, but there’s also a handheld wand which is very handy for cleaning.
- Nero Mecca Toilet Roll Holder: Even the smaller items were matched in Brushed Gold so that nothing felt out of place.
The Statement Pieces
For the vanity, we chose the Otti Australia Marlo Above Counter Basin. It’s a simple, round matte white bowl that sits on top of the counter. The curved shape is a nice break from all the straight lines of the large tiles, and the matte finish feels very modern.
The toilet was also a deliberate choice. We went with the Alzano Rimless Toilet Suite. In a busy home, the rimless design is a lifesaver because there are no hidden gaps for dirt to hide in, making it much easier to keep clean. It’s a slim, tidy unit that doesn’t take up too much visual space.

The Result: A Calm and Balanced Bathroom Retreat

After:

This Narraweena bathroom renovation shows how much impact thoughtful design can have. The space has been transformed from an outdated bathroom into a bright, balanced retreat that feels calm and inviting.
The Marble Snow White walls reflect natural light beautifully, while the Pietra Trana beige floors ground the room. Brushed gold accents add warmth, and the oak-toned flooring outside the bathroom helps the entire suite feel connected and cohesive.
Rather than feeling like a standalone room, the bathroom now feels like an integrated part of the home, designed for both comfort and longevity.
Final Thoughts
This project in Narraweena shows that you don’t need a complicated design to get a high-end result. By picking a few quality materials such as the hybrid flooring and porcelain marble tiles, and by sticking to a simple colour palette, you can create something that looks beautiful and stays practical for years.
At Tilemall, we’re here to help you through the whole process, from that first visit to the showroom. We’re proud to have played a part in turning this new house into a home.
