Working with extra-long flooring boards
The current collection over 2200mm combines long laminate planks with engineered European oak boards. These constructions can share a similar scale but differ substantially in build, natural variation, thickness and installation. Choose the construction first, then compare how the long format supports the room plan.
Extra-long boards reduce the frequency of end joints across an open run, but width and colour variation still shape the result. Engineered timber may show natural differences between boards, while laminate repeats a designed surface. Review multiple samples or product imagery and confirm whether pack contents use fixed dimensions.
Access matters at this size. Measure lifts, stairs, corridors and doorways, and plan a dry storage area that supports the full board length. If delivery or set-out becomes impractical, compare 1900-2100mm flooring before compromising the room layout.
Confirm board direction, stagger, transitions and cutting allowance with the installer. Use the selected product's documentation for substrate tolerances, acclimatisation, expansion, installation and care rather than applying one rule to both laminate and engineered timber.
