Bathroom Perfection: Vanity Units
Each bathroom is going to benefit from different vanity types in different ways. For those that want to bring out the feeling of space in their bathroom, consider the wall-hung vanity. Alternatively, for those that require a little more storage, the floor-standing vanity is a perfect choice. Regardless of which vanity unit you feel is right for you, each of our products is designed and manufactured using only the best materials. High-quality plywood is used in all our vanities and shaving cabinets, as plywood’s natural properties of layered timber sheeting that are laminated together make for the best material to use in bathrooms.
The Benefits of Plywood:
-
Water resistant
-
Durable, long-lasting and strong
-
Sustainable
-
No maintenance is required
While others work with solid timber, inferior chipboard, or MDF, we stand by our products and their plywood. Chipboard and MDF have little to no water resistance, they aren’t environmentally sustainable, and due to being prone to damage, they have a notably shorter lifespan than other materials. Meanwhile, solid timbers require yearly restaining when repeatedly exposed to water, making them a difficult material for bathrooms. With many years of experience in manufacturing bathroom vanities, the benefits of plywood joinery outweigh the perks of using solid timber. A well-organised bathroom is the key to a hassle-free morning routine. We offer a wide range of bathroom vanity units with basins in various styles, providing smarter storage solutions. A custom-made bathroom vanity can be the focal point of your bathroom, so make sure you take the time to find a style you’ll love for years to come. Here are our top guidelines on how to pick the ideal vanity for your bathroom:
Wall Hung Vanity
Having the free space under the vanity gives the impression of extra room in the bathroom. Keeping the bathroom scales or the kid's steps out of the way is convenient since they are not tripping over them all the time.
Freestanding Vanity
A full-size vanity or floor plumbing can be concealed behind these vanities, which provides a clean finish straight to the floor.
Single Bowl Vanity
A single bowl can be centred on the vanity or offset to one side. Having a large vanity with a single bowl will give you plenty of bench space.
Double Bowl Vanity
Double basins are perfect for busy family bathrooms or shared ensuite bedrooms, saving you time when more than one person needs to get ready at once.
Vanity Sizes
Vanities are usually available in six standard sizes: 600mm, 750mm, 900mm, 1200mm, 1500mm and 1800mm. Some vanities offer leg options. This traditional design makes for a timeless bathroom atmosphere. Whilst the traditional vanity design makes for a timeless bathroom atmosphere, a vanity can be configured in a variety of ways. This ranges from minimalist designs with one seamless drawer that stretches across the length of the vanity, to shaker and Hamptons vanities made of real wood, to vanities with built-in sinks for a seamless appearance and a wide variety of drawer and cupboard options.
Bathroom Perfection: Mirror and Shaving Cabinet
With the continued advancements in lighting technology and designer shapes, we are able to integrate lighting in exciting and effective ways through our LED mirrors and shaving cabinets. These will add a sultry, luxurious mood to any space. Having a mirror or shaving cabinet to match your vanity is important. A mirror can also provide extra storage and reflective light. Mirrors may reflect natural light in your bathroom and open the space.
Bathroom Vanities, Mirror and Shaving Cabinet FAQs
Is a wall-hung or freestanding vanity the best choice?
It all depends on your preference, as well as the needs of your particular bathroom. Freestanding vanity units offer more storage, while wall-hung vanity units give the appearance of a larger space.
How big should my vanity be?
Before starting your bathroom design, measure your bathroom and work through "How to Plan Your Bathroom". This will help you gain a better understanding of what is feasible and what will improve your design. Even if you have the space to fit a larger vanity in, bigger isn't always better. A spacious bathroom appearance is created by leaving some space between items.
What is the appropriate space to leave between the bathroom vanity and shower screen?
It is important to note that the shower glass must be at least 100mm away from the vanity to ensure you can clean it thoroughly.
Is it possible to just replace the vanity in my bathroom?
It is okay if the vanity is tiled over it as long as you can see if the tiles extend all the way to the bottom or stop at the vanity. Usually, there will be grout at the junction.
Is it possible to change a freestanding vanity into a wall-hung vanity?
A wall-hung vanity may be heavy, so the wall may need reinforcement to support it. If you are retiling, this should not be an issue. In addition, if the waste outlet runs out through the floor, this should be moved backwards and routed up through the wall. This is not normally a significant issue, but you should get in touch with your plumber before starting work.
Could I install the shaving cabinet by myself?
There will be many factors that are involved that can alter the installation method, there will be also installation guides are included with all our mirror cabinets. However, bathroom mirror cabinets need to be installed by a licensed tradesperson.
Could I put a shaving cabinet inside the wall?
Building a shaving cabinet into the wall will save space in their bathroom, but you will need to speak with your builder for recommendations. That said, any design from our shaving cabinet range could be built into the wall.
