What separates one laminate floor from another
The current laminate range is supplied across Preference Floors and Topdeck collections, with timber looks ranging from pale oak and natural Australian species to deeper brown and grey finishes. The decorative surface is only the first decision. Board length, width, thickness, edge treatment and texture determine how the design repeats and how the floor reads across a larger room.
Compare the product specifications line by line. Some ranges use compact boards while others extend beyond two metres, so two similar colours can produce very different joint patterns. Review the stated room suitability, installation system, underlay requirements and maintenance guidance for the exact product; do not transfer claims from one laminate range to another.
Use samples and room measurements together
A sample helps with colour and texture, but the room plan is needed to understand direction, joins and transitions. Lay the sample beside cabinetry, skirting and adjacent flooring in both daylight and evening light. If the construction is still undecided, compare hybrid flooring and vinyl flooring before narrowing by appearance.
Calculate packs from the approved set-out and agreed cutting allowance. Confirm substrate condition, expansion gaps, trims, door clearances and warranty requirements with the installer before placing the final order.
