Do your research beforehand so you can figure out everything that is required and how long it is going to take you to complete your tiling project. We would recommend using a backer board. 

You then need to consider how you are going to tile your home. What approach are you going to use? Mosaic tiles tend to be best for beginners, as there is more opportunity for error. You also need to select your grout with care. Choosing a high-contrast grout colour works well and creates a striking look.
